For Real Baby Photography is an Omaha, Nebraska based photographer specializing in taking beautiful documentary style portraits of your children in a natural setting where they can be themselves.

Hello and welcome to For Real, Baby Photography,

I would like to take a moment to tell you a little about myself.  My name is Timothy Henze and I am the proprietor and primary photographer at For Real, Baby Photography.  Just the other day I was going through some old things and I found the contact proofs from the first roll of black and white film I developed with my dad when I was thirteen years old.  I have been engaged with photography since that time.  I graduated from Columbia College Chicago which has one of the best college or university photography programs in the country.  My studies included documentary photography, commercial studio training, photojournalism and one of the first courses anywhere in digital imaging in 1989 with instructors that included a Guggenheim Fellowship winner and a Pulitzer Prize winning photojournalist along with many other working Chicago professionals.  During college I worked three years as an intern at the Museum of Contemporary Photography at Columbia College.

. . .to capture moments that matter for parents and children in the spaces and places where life happens

After college I went to work in an art gallery specializing in photography in the Cherry Creek area of Denver for a year after which I attended seminary to become a pastor.  I worked as a pastor in Eastern Montana for 9 years where I made the transition to digital photography.  I have mostly photographed abstract landscapes over the years.  Some of that work and my influences can be seen here.  Twenty-eight years later inspired by the birth of my first son, I decided I wanted to use my skills and talents to capture moments that matter for parents and children in the spaces and places where life happens.

If children are in good light and a setting where they are comfortable being themselves the poses and expressions will come on their own . . .

Pioneering photojournalist/photodocumentarian Henri Cartier-Bresson coined the expression "The Decisive Moment."  "The Decisive Moment" was when the light, the scene, and the actions and expressions of the subject person or persons came perfectly together to tell a story.  It is said sometimes that Cartier-Bresson would stand in the same place for hours waiting for "The Decisive Moment."  While I may not stand in one place for hours, "The Decisive Moment" is my guide in photographing children.  If children are in good light and a setting where they are comfortable being themselves the poses and expressions will come on their own and they will be natural and real reflections of your child's personality.  This is what I want to accomplish for you.  I hope you will entrust me with your most precious memories.  Thank you for your time.
