For Real, Baby Photography is all about photographing the “Real” baby. For me that involves photographing your child in the most familiar and natural environment, whether that means a swaddled infant just home from the hospital or multiple children playing in the back yard or surrounded by toys in their playroom. I have no studio. I am specially prepared to come to you so your children are photographed in their own element.

To make sure I get it right, which for me means capturing your child in a respectful and authentic manner, the first thing I want to do is get to know some things about you and your child. I will arrange with you a half hour consultation in person to get acquainted and plan your photography session. We will talk about favorite spots in your home or other locations and how the light in those settings will affect the photography session. Together we can talk about what your child is comfortable wearing and what to select from the child's wardrobe for the photography session. Together we will watch how your child plays and with what they like to play. I will ask you about your child’s eating, sleeping and play patterns so we can plan a session time and setting that will best capture your child’s excitement and personality. I will listen to you and offer any suggestions I can based on my experience. In the case of photographing a newborn the consultation can be before the birth of the child to get to know you and determine things like whether the session will be in the hospital or in the home and if you choose home, where in the home you want to to photograph the baby.

I want to capture real life moments of your child...
I was inspired to photograph children differently having seen many stylized newborn and infant photographs. You’ve seen photographs of a sleeping baby in the fetal position tucked into a basket or perhaps curled into large hands naked or wearing a costume you would have trouble keeping on them if they were awake. Some photographers encourage moms to feed their baby at the beginning of the session so the child will go right to sleep and sleep during the session. With the child deep in sleep, the photographer can pose the child any way they want. If this is the type of photography you are looking for, I want to be up front and honest, I am not the photographer for you. If you are looking for a stylized, posed photograph of your child, I suggest you find one of many excellent photographers that specialize in this type of photography. From my own experience as a father, I believe even newborns and infants have personalities to express. I want to capture real life moments of your child alert to the world and expressing their new found and ever evolving personalities.
